Conferences, roundtables, forums, opinion pieces, interviews ... Today we witness countless acts in which the main theme is the phenomenon of violence against women. I know, I participate in many of them, alone and together, which is usually the chosen formula.
are long rivers of ink consumed, saliva, efforts and good intentions but: What is being said? What question? What is resolved?
Much less of what is possible, because we still have a limited conception, sketchy and inaccurate as it is violence against women, which consists of:
- Reduce the scale phenomenon biographical, or whatever it is, believe that domestic violence is a phenomenon that only affects some women and men.
- Confusing cause and effect, or what is, believe that domestic violence is pursuing and punishing battle maltratadotes and protecting the victims, without any consideration to the creation of comprehensive prevention programs.
These errors lead us to believe that to combat violence against women, a simple psychological intervention and judicial, a rather simplistic way of addressing the phenomenon of domestic violence in the world.
Just look at the three years of implementation of the Comprehensive Law realize that only develop those aspects which relate to the necessary protection and treatment of victims of abuse, and persecution and punishment of offenders. But this law is much broader and accepts the need for us to focus on the task of preventing such violence, trying not to happen. And in this sense we are not moving anything.
Where is the problem?
1. On the one hand public opinion that neither knows nor wants to know the real situation of women, nor in the world in general or in Spain in particular, lower wages, working double shifts, sexual violence, religious requirements depressive, femicide, etc. and yet, talk, discuss and judge without regard to any data or statistics, but the news coming out in the media usually refer only to the murders of women by their spouses, ex- spouses, boyfriends, ex-boyfriends, etc. (Pure entertainment)

I can assure you that all the actual data that analyze the situation of women in the world in all its dimensions, or displayed in reports, nor in its strategies, or programs, but, worse, if anything, is that type of information does not appear in the reports, analysis and / or programs of associations such as Amnesty International and the Centre Against Gender Violence ... of whom may be thinking that, as in the case of politicians, have an interest party, by it is only a matter of ignorance.
For this reason, we continue with the subject of acts of domestic violence, continue to spend saliva and ink, and still do not say anything because we are unable to leap the cycle of physical violence against women and assume that this phenomenon are an effect of an even larger phenomenon: the lack of empowerment of women, which makes possible a world in she is thinking and feeling through a value system of dependence and subordination in relation to men. And because it
securities can be corrected only through comprehensive intervention programs involving all institutions, from the family (first and foremost) to the education system, through the economy, religion and media communication, whose aim is to set our value system so that women are considered as a political entity with full autonomy.
If we ignore what happens in reality, if we continue to consider that violence against women is reduced simply to the bad luck that may have some to interact with ... what name we can put no offense to the animals: a beast? If you do not accept that physical abuse is the tip of the iceberg and that after he hides a system that subjugates and subordinates women, then any behavior of abuse will be reduced to the tragic life of some women and be repeated daily in society and in any family, any work in any classroom at any time and anywhere ...
